Erling Haaland Loses His Cool in Tottenham Thriller
Manchester City forward, Erling Haaland, may face charges by the Football Association (FA) after a particularly tumultuous match against Tottenham Hotspur left him posting profanities online.
The tension-filled game took place at Etihad Stadium in Manchester, England on Sunday, 3 December, with plenty of highs and lows to keep the crowd enthralled. However, things really began to heat up during stoppage time, when referee Simon Hooper made a questionable decision.
A goal from Spurs midfielder Dejan Kulusevski at the 90th minute put the crowd into a frenzy, as fans from both sides eagerly cheered on, hoping to see the 3-3 tie broken before the final whistle.
As Haaland passed the ball to his teammate Jack Grealish behind the visitors’ defence, it seemed like the fans were about to get their wish but Hooper’s unexpected call to end the game rang out.
“It’s clearly a mistake but it is a monster of a mistake in my opinion,” sports pundit Jermaine Jenas said to an international publication after the match.
Haaland expressed his frustrations by sharing a video of the incident on Twitter with the simple caption: “Wtf”. The comment may land the 23-year-old striker in trouble, as it goes against the FA’s code of conduct.
